it depends on what type of book your selling.
childrens books - tie them in with products like dolls, nightlights, toothpaste , stuff their parents will buy them anyway
romance novels - have readings at some major bookstores, have the author narate and have cover-model actors to play the speaking parts complete with costumes and horses (if appropriate)
history and historical fiction: take advantage of things like ren faires and re-enactments to stage a scene from the book
you could get testimonials but i personally can't remember ever having read a single one on any book jacket i've ever read
and of course there's always oprah's book club |

I tried selling books on Ebay without much success. I had much more result when I packaged 2 or more books that had similar topics and added one more book for free. Whenever you put "free" in an add you can be sure that people will read it.(By the way, the "free book" can be any topic.) Also, think about postage reduction for customers buying more than one package. |

If your book is well written and is good, then my best guess is for you to take the best part of you're book. Like two or three pages and give them out for free in like little pamphlets so they capture the reader. |
