Visit as many web forums that apply to your business as possible. Answer some questions and ad a link to your website for more information. When they click on your link, your site will generate more traffic, and more traffic means higher search engine placement which means more organic search results.

The two best ways to get traffic is through pay per click or natural search listing.
Don't do any thing that is truly sneaky. You will get caught and the penalties can be pretty severe.
The best thing you can do to get ranked in the search engines is to get inbound links to your site from other sites. You need to make sure these are quality sites that are related to your website. (if yours is about boats get links from other boat related sites)
Start by getting listed in directories or writing articles about your business and posting them online. You could write a press release and pay $40 to have PRWeb distribute it online. And there are a bunch more if you start reading blogs about search engine marketing.
