You could put a small, empty, glass fish bowl with a pen attached to it with a string on the counter at a high end hair salon or daycare or a gym (gyms have single guys who need your service). you have to ask permission to do this. On the front of the fish bowl...put a little sign. Make it a drawing for one free room cleaned or something like that. People have to put their name...number or business card inside. You pick one winner a month. Then you have all those contacts that are interested in the service (or they wouldn't have entered). You can send them a flier in the mail with a "special 20% off" for the 1st visit. It is a good way to get yourself a customer database and get your name out a little. The actual winner might like your service and make it a regular thing. |

I would find out if I could put some fliers up at the local childcare centre. Anyone who works full-time and has children doesn't have a lot of time left spare, I'd say they would prefer to spend the little time that they do have doing something more enjoyable than cleaning. |

It's a personal service, clients want soemone they can trust - best way to do that is face to face.
Go knock doors, be polite, dress the part (look like a maid, uniforms make terrific first impressions), explain you are starting up, offer them a free trial, if they say no thank them for their time, leave the card should they change their mind, and go next door. And persistence always pays off. |
