You can reach a broader audience! My husband and I started one for our CB business, and we've had orders from across the country.
The only thing you'd be missing out on is extra money, but look into the costs of one first. I made ours myself, but I couldn't host it, so I had to fine someone to do it. That costs us $180.00 a year. If you don't know how to do a website, it can cost you $40.00/hour and up for someone to do it for you. Then there's the payment processing, shopping cart, etc, that go with it.
There's places where you can go that they'll host and offer you software so you can build your own site, but I learned it's not worth is. Five months of work disappeared into cyberspace when their server crashed. Five long months of 10 hour days, and they lost it. They didn't have a back up like they guaranteed me they would.
Just look into it. You don't have anything to lose by looking. |

the benefits are higher visibility. The internet is today's phone book. You really should have at least a basic informational site with your business name, address, phone number and what you do (like an ad you would put in the paper). Don't put any info or images that will be outdated in a year if you do not plan on updating the site regularly. Be sure your site includes metadata (keywords that people would use to find your business on an online search). |
