Price and lack of games. I bought one in April *groan* and haven't bought a single game since the two I bought with it. |

Very simple - the price. It's topped the starting price of the old gen consoles, and parents are not prepared to fork out that sum of money for teens/older kids, especially with the state of the economy in general.
Once the price comes down it will be more widely bought.
Look at the Nintendo Wii - new type of gameplay at almost £100 cheaper - at the mo, the PS3 only appeals to hardcore game junkies due to the price and selection of games available. |

I don't know the official sales numbers, but it's kind of obvious why it's doing poorly. First it costs too dang much. Second, the Xbox 360 and the Wii have better games. Third, even the PS2 has better games than the PS3. Sony is in trouble. |

the price of the unit (see £600), variety of games dont seem to cater for the girl gamer in the early stages of release as most packages came with racing / shooting games. price of games too high.
I know its better than previous versions and has all this new technology, but as will all new stuff, its never well supported, take blu ray for example, yes you can get blu ray movies, but not that many, so how could you justify shelling out £500 for just a handful of movies which cost more than a standard dvd? |

xbox and and wii is outting playstation under. the xbox 360 price is going to drop again. down to 200. you can get a xbox 360 for 290. now. its going t9 be 200 and playstation is above 400. i can go get a new computer for 400. the playstation price needs to come down and they need some hit titles. xbox has three big over the top hits. bioshock and halo 3 and madden 08. |

The main problem with PS3 is that there are very few decent games for it. I've got 3, which I bought when I first got it.
The other problem is price. Most people don't realise that it's a games console, video player, web browser, High Def (BluRay) DVD player and a general all round good egg. It's is very good value for money if you use all the functions - but for most people it's an expensive games machine. |

I just the price I mean the xbox 360 is cheaper so it does everything the same and also the ps3 has been on sale since march and it has not dropped its price and it probably wont through christmas either |

because its not actually all its cracked up to be, the games are twice the price of ps2 games, and whats the point of buying a ps3 when it plays all your ps2 games anyways. half the people that want them haven't got a HD TV so the new fangled DVD thingy is a waste of time.
LOL, as you can tell I don't have one, neither have I looked in to owning one, I'm gonna stick with my ps2 and wii |
