Here are some points to consider
1. Availability of the name -- this is the first consideration as you may think of a nice good name but if it is no longer available, then you have little choice but to select another one
2. Do you want a branding type of domain name? Examples are Amazon.com, eBay.com, Yahoo.com -- big successful sites with domain names that are catchy, and easy to remember even if the names have nothing to do with what they do. Yet these domains became the biggest brands on the web.
3. Do you want a keyword based domain? Search engines such as Google are now putting value in the domain names of websites. For example, search for "home business" and look at the top 10 results -- most of which have the word "home business" in their domains. If you're going to do keywords and you will be using several keywords, use hypens and not underscore and don't make it look spammy long |

You should consider if you are branding the name. For example, I have a URL that is my business name: ontheavenues.com That is good for people who want to find my site quickly, they can just search by the name
You should consider if you want to use keywords in the name. For example: freephoenixmls.com, or phoenix-commercial-property.com The hyphen seperates the words so engiines can see the difference. The combined url uses the phrases as one word but engines like google can see each. But, I have many sites that use the hyphen and no more then 3 words.
.com, .biz, .info and so forth will not be an issue. One is not better then the other, it is just that most are use to .com endings. But if you can get a great url with a different extension, go for it
Register the url for more then 2 years as that shows it is not a spam site. Google will judge the site on how long it is secured. Serious users register for more then a few years and this can help. |

- Avoid any domain that ends in anything but .com, .net, and .org
- Avoid using abbreviations, numbers, etc. Ex adomain4u.com
- Avoid lawyers - do not use any copyrighted name or product in your domain name
- Do not use more than one hyphens Ex your-domainname.com is better than your-domain-name.com
- Google gives weight to keyword based domains. Ex - affiliatemarketingebooks.net
- Register domain name for more than one year. Search engines view any thing less as a spam or throw away domain.
- Do not pay more than $10 |

They are:
1. Make your domain name short but catchy
2. Make sure that yours is original and unique (this means that you don't have anyone's domain name on the web...this will confuse a lot of people and also SEs)
3. I also suggest that you have your (dot) extension name based from your country of origin just to inform people ahead that you are from that country.
