Craptacular Wonderment
 |
Call 1-888-382-1222 if you are in the USA.. it's a national number.. call from the phone you do not want to receive telemarketing calls at.. and that means cell-phones too.
Do it quick.. it takes 31 days to activate.
Then if you receive another telemarketing call make sure you get their mailing address to give them a donation or start up fee..(AS IF YOU WOULD...but it will keep them on the line and willing to give you data).. this is a ploy to get an address to report. Write down the number from where they called from, then call this number again to report that they broke the contract. They could be responsible for paying you money for their breaking the law.
The registry is good for 5 years.
Adding: From personal experience..It seems as soon as you get on that No Call list you get TWICE the amount of telemarketing calls as you received before.. (Have to wonder if there is a 'heads up to telemarketers' list being sold so they call all blast you with phone calls before it's illegal for them to)
I had 3 calls yesterday and 2 the day before last week was similar.. and I signed up 2 weeks ago :( |

no call list takes time. you can get a device that will emit a tone that tells the dialing computer your phone is disconnected, live calls come through. the telezapper plugs into phone line. you can place a block on your phone for unknown numbers, but this may stop calls you actually want. you can get caller id and avoid unknown calls. |

Tell them to take your number off of their list. There's also the do not call registry...You should be able to find the number in the white pages on go online and do a search. |

Do not call registry works great. Gets rid of most of them.
For the rest, interrupt them, say you do not accept phone solicitations (or surveys or whatever - get the point across that if you do not know them you do not want them calling you) and ask them to remove them from your calling list. |

One thing I thought of, but never actually did (I thought it's a bit mean :-P) is that with the ones that won't take NO for an answer, ask if they could hold for a second. Put them on hold and never come back! If they call again, do the same thing. This time they will get the point!
We have these telemarketers calling our house EVERY DAY, telling us about different phone deals, and never taking no for an answer! My dad picked up the phone once, and the guy said "are you interested in purchasing blah blah?" My dad said "Yes offcourse!" and hung up the phone! HAHA |

either sign up on a do-not-call list or have a little fun with it. ex if they're selling magazines, your blind; if they're selling pre-bought graves/tombstones your son just commited sucide (or u are about to);if they are selling life insurance 'accidentally admit u just got diagnosed with cancer. either that sort of thing or you can talk personally with them, asking them their adress, phone number, last name, anything to make them as unconfortable as possible. your pick! :-) |

ask them politely to stop phoning, if possible change the number. if not successful cut the phone permanently and take a new one from another provider. |

What you do is call your phone company and tell them about the telemarketers. They will offer you a plan that doesn't cost that much and will stop telemarketers from calling you. You can also pay to not have your telephone number and address in the phone book. This will be a great deal of help since that is where the telemarketers usually get your phone number from. |
