crazzycorinne | What competitors does cadburys have? |

I used to work at Cadbury Schweppes. Truthfully, it depends what country & segment you are referring to. Cadbury Schweppes is a large category which competes within the following categories:
- Chocolate & Confections
- Carbonated Soft Drinks (e.g. Dr. Pepper, 7Up)
- Juices & Juice Drinks (e.g. Snapple, Mott's, Hawaiian Punch, Clamato)
- Snacks (e.g. Mott's Apple Sauce)
Within Chocolate, it's interesting that Cadbury is a very small player outshone by Nestle, M&M Mars (now called Masterfoods) and Hershey. Cadbury is a distant 4th. But, in Canada & Europe, Cadbury is a huge player - perhaps #2. This is because Cadbury Schweppes is British based and hence has a much larger presence in Europe, Canada & Australia.
Within Confections (e.g. gum, hard candy), competitors would include Wrigley's.
Within Soft Drinks, Cadbury Scheppes is a distant 3rd, with Coke in the lead, followed closely by Pepsi. Interestingly enough, I think that 7-Up, one of Cadbury's products, is actually sold by Pepsi outside the US.
Within Juices & Juice Drinks, competition is w/ Coke (e.g. Minute Maid, Hi-C) and Pepsi (e.g. Tropicana, Gatorade, Brisk Iced Tea), Ocean Spray, Welch's and many smaller players.
Within Fruit Snacks, Dole & Del Monte are the largest competitors. |

Nestle would be their main competitior - I beleive that they also took over Rowntrees which was the other main chocolate manufacturer in the UK. Also Mars - although they aren't a british company are still competitors. |

In the UK Cadburys (number 1 in the chocolate market) competes with Nestle (number 3) and Masterfoods (number 2). In addition there are loads of smaller manufacturers making niche products (Kinnerton, Kinder etc).
There are a number of different sectors in chocolate: Filled Bars, Bitesize and Block + Seasonal products... Who competes with who depends where you are looking e.g. the brand winners in each sector are: Filled bars - Mars (Masterfoods), Bitesize - Maltesers (Masterfoods), Block - Cadbury
In addition to chocolate manufacturers Cadbury competes with sugar (sweet) brands (e.g. Haribo), soft drinks companies (e.g. Coca Cola), chewing gum (e.g. Wrigleys) etc etc... Here they are competting for a share of the consumers income and a share of the retail space... |
