Marketing is much more than just advertising. Marketing is the connection between your product and your future customer. Knowing how to make that connection is the difference between generating sales and not.The first key step to marketing is to understand the problems, needs and wants of your customers. Please don't make the mistake of thinking that everyone is your customer. Imagine the cost to market to everyone in the country. You have to start with those who have the greatest need for your product.
The second key marketing step is to translate those needs and wants into the sellable features and functions of your product. You do this by gathering product requirements, creating launch checklists, etc. And number three, communicate the benefits to your target market with marketing tools that create awareness, interest, and generate sales. Though advertising and promotion is what we usually think of as "marketing" but without the first two steps, you're just wasting your time and money. |

If the product is new and you have competitors then best way is to achieve a niche market.This could be done by focussing on only market which may be one region or one state only.To achieve niche market use below the line marketing communication like PR along with online advertisement and direct marketing.This will help you not to confront ur competitors while doing ur own business.If you donot have competitors then there are two strategies which could be adopted based upon the following 2 cases.
Case 1.U have adequate revenue-Then go for mass media advertising to generate awareness to every possible prospect u have.
Case 2-U lack adequate revenue-Then go for the startegy that i have explained in the beginning and avoid mass media advertising.Because mass media advertising will be expensive and once u will spend on this u will loose revenue to back up ur project.So though there will be demand but u will beinproblem because u cant supply adequately due to adequate revenue shortage.But ur advertisement will craete enough demand in the market that u will find new players to enter the market.

This is not an easy question without much knowledge of your business, your product and your budget.
Generally, for promotion you can create a PR campaign supported by some well targeted advertising campaigns. Assuming you understand your target market well, you should be looking at the media that best reaches your intended customers. Don't buy advertising in a teen mag if you're selling to accountants. The easiest way to spot successful selling to your target market is through repeated advertising by competitors or suppliers or complimentary products. You can sell in the same space, but to do well you must differentiate your offering and make that clear to your market. If your product is completely new and has little comparative offerings, you will need to spend time educating your market. The buying cycle will be longer than one where the product is already established. |
