Depending upon my mood, I have a few tricks to use on them. One is to keep them on the line as long as possible thinking they're going to make a "big" sale, and then finally tell them that the longer I can Keep 'em on the line the fewer other decent people they can bother.
Another trick is if it's a long distance call, I just say "Hang on a moment, please." lay the receiver down and go back to whatever I was doing. When they get tired of waiting and hang up, your phone will let you know. |

Just say you aren't interested. I get mean messages on my voice mail after I prospect. There is no need to be mean, just say no and hang up. |

i simply dont pikup, or say the persons not available....one time a telemarketer had the nerve to ask me wat i was eating wen i told them i was eating dinner an i culdnt talk at the moment. |

I got a cellphone and dropped my landline. The only unsolicited calls I get now (other than wrong numbers) are from political parties. I haven't had a telemarketer call since 2004.
It is apparently illegal in Canada for a direct marketer to advertise in a way that costs the recipients money. Not much help if you're in the US, but still... |

When they call my house and ask for my parents I put on a depressed voice and say "I wish that you would stop calling here! She or He passed away and I WISH YOU GUYS WOULD JUST STOP CALLING" and then I hang up! And it seems to work my phone rings less! |
