I think raffles are great...well, except for the small detail that I never seem to win them! But really, who doesn't like a chance to pay a small amount of money to win a big prize? It's legal gambling! The better the prizes, the more tickets you will sell. Heck yeah, I'll spend $10 on tickets for a chance to win something worth $75-100+!

greatest idea ever, everytime i have an event where i work we raffle off an ipod nano or something nice like that. it's fun and people love it and come just for that. it will make your event that much better |

well i work as part of a disco and we know that when the organisor or pub owner or whatever comes along askin for a microphone to start the raffle it is mostly realy annoyin ESPECIALLY WHEN its heating up and evry1 has got into dancin....if its done at the right time of the night then yeh its fine like the start of the night or just before the night gets into its flow...sorta between when everyone has finished arrivin and getn over their shyness and when they are getn the drink down them and preparin to get closer to a good old dance, somewher in between there but not wen evry1 wants to dance and u lose the flow....ppl jus duno how difficult the job can be lol
also if its just a day thing or like a meetin or sumthn it tends to get borin, and children or ppl who arent involved get really bored too but raffles are good when evry wants to play and the waitin for ur ticket number and the prizes are good then yay BUT WEN THE RAFFLE IS RIGGED that realy bugs me |

I have been following your other questions, so I have an idea about your event, but in order to get truly relevant and valuable suggestions, you will probably want to be more specific when asking your questions.
If you are having a raffle, you have to ask yourself what the purpose for each person is. For the people offering the raffle, it is the opportunity to showcase their products. Are you going to sell the tickets? If you are, what are you going to do with the money? Is it going to cover costs of the event, is it going to a specific fund, is it going towards and actual networking organization that you are going to incorporate and grow? In most cases, people will want to know this before shelling out money for the raffle tickets.
If your main goal is to do a raffle so you can attract more people to your event, then I would suggest you just offer out raffle tickets as door prizes. Perhaps offer one ticket just for coming, an extra ticket if the person is pre-registered to attend, and another ticket if they bring or refer another attendee from a different company or organization. Make sure you showcase the highest perceived value prizes when you are promoting the event. Then, of course, people must be present to win, so that will keep them through the event and give them enough time to make a good judgement as to whether or not the group will be a good fit for them. |
