Hello!
If you have 60 seconds to spare I'll really appeciate if you could help me on a quick questionaire for my market research class.
I have to ask 10 people to write down everything that comes to mind when you think of 'word of mouth'. A list of roughly 10 words/phrases is sufficient :) If you are responding, preferablly you don't look at the other answers before you answer.

"Word of Mouth" in an advertising sense, is when someone refers another person to a product or service with no intention of monetary gain. Speaking in general terms, word of mouth is simply the passing of information in an informal matter. Typical done face to face yet, can be extended to the telephone, instant messaging, etc. There are some similarities between word of mouth, gossip, hearsay and rumors. The thing that usually sets word of mouth apart is that it is commonly used to spread positive information. However, this is not always the case. Many times word of mouth is used to spread negative information about a product or service.
Some highly used similar marketing tactics that are used today are buzz marketing and viral marketing. Sites like Stumble Upon, digg, and Yahoo Buzz are some great examples. |
