I did a uni project on this, here are some of my findings in the literature. Contact me if you need references. Aaker is a good person to look at hes an authority on branding.
Ambler and Styles (1996) define brands as;
“The promise of the bundles of attributes that someone buys… The attributes that makes up a brand may be real or illusionary, rational or emotional, tangible or invisible.”
Branding is associated with names and logos (Aaker 1992) which make people aware of the product/service (Ketter 1993). They must communicate the brand’s meaning through association, in the memory of the consumer (Ketter 1993) |
