What is a promotional campaign?

The purpose of a promotion campaign is to bring awareness to a brand or product. There are different ways:

Try product for free:
Some companies give out freebies just so you can test it. McVities parked outside of my Tesco's giving people ginger biscuits.

Advertisements:
To tell people about their product or brand, many advertise through TV, billboards, leaflets, posters, tube ads, and Yellow pages. I found out about Yahoo Answers from the tube.

Direct mail:
Send the customer something - such as a postcard, branded promotional product, or a sample. I sent my potential clients branded mugs during my mug campaign, and sold some mugs.

Telesales:
Tell people about the product/promotion by cold calling. You must have had the experience of somone trying to sell you a discounted mobile tariff over the phone.

Face to face:
Show people the product by meeting them face to face. Either through exhibitions and events (and give them a demo), appointments, networking, door to door, street promo events. I was given a new brand of chocolate in Waterloo station.

Competitions:
In newspapers, magazines, promo events. E.g. win a house with the Daily Mail by collecting tokens.

Buy one get one free:
Done superbly in supermarkets! It's got me to buy certain brands of pizza, sausages and shampoo.

Internet:
Promote through emails, blogging, forums, Yahoo answers, Google Ads, viral marketing, flash games.... all drive traffic to your website.

an example is:
a media blitz. ads on radio or television, billboards, word of mouth. taxi billboards, bus billboards, etc. to get the name of a new item out to the public,

like the ad on a bus for a new perfume.
or, a tv ad telling you the name and political stance of a new candidate.
or the remake of an old film.

It is where a group of people try to give something a good name. Usually for business purposes. they give out leaflets and put up posters or use the Internet. many ways for many reasons. can only be called campaign if it is organised.

It is usually an expensive process whereby you hire somebody to get your company mentioned in magazines and newspapers. Or basically using any means to get an organisation well known to the people they are trying to reach.A lot of times the methods are just common sense though they tend to have good media contacts if you are thinking of using one.

A campaign that promotes something.

It's when someone is trying to convince you that what they are selling is worth the money they are trying to extort. It's sales bullshit or consumer brianwashing.
