Small-cap
Mid-Cap
Large Cap
Blue Chip
Blue chips are the really big boys of Business, none of your small time, scam you, rip you off etc (So how did Microsoft get up there; Just kidding Bill). |

In casinos, the blue chip is usually the most expensive so this term is applied to companies that are worth more than a billion dollars. These companies include IBM, ICI, British Petroleum etc. The big players on the stock market! Although Enron was blue chip and now its only fish and chip!
So if your employer lands a blue chip client, then you will get a champagne break instead of a coffe break! |

Blue Chip refers to major companies like Disney, Microsoft. They'd be Blue Chip Stock. The chances of them going bankrupt and you losing your money investing in them is very slim.
I think it has to do with Poker and the Blue Poker Chips. Don't quote me on it though. |
