I saw this ad on the side of a bus today. It said and I quote,
"Are your children starting to think for themselves? Put a stop to it now with OBAY."
there was also a picture of a bottle of pills with "OBAY" written on it.
I've searched online to see what this stuff actually is, and can't find anything that remotely resembles anything from the ad I saw.
So basically, I'm curious to know what this stuff is, if anyone knows, thats great! let me know please...
Also, based on the context of the ad, it makes me wonder what this world is coming to. If your children can think for themselves, give them a drug to make them docile. Thats what I am seeing.
So the second part to this question is, what is your opinion on this ad? What do you think its trying to do?

I saw this ad on my way to the gym this morning and was instantly insulted. I saw 2 different ads, one with a father & son, one with a mother & daughter. It is -16C today, so I didn't stop to inspect it further.
Two hours later, on my way to work, I was fully awake and I realized that it is some sort of savvy ad campaign, likely about parenting, or it could be from the United Church. The ad had a tagline that said something like: brought to you by the people at DoAsISay. I wish that I'd taken a photo, but as I said, it was -16, and I didn't want to stop and get my camera out.
I am disappointed that I can't find any info about it online yet. I guess that I'll just have to wait for phase two of the campaign. But, they do have people talking! And that is their goal. |

I saw it 12 Feb 2008 in London Ontario, a viper's nest of Canadian conservatism and insurance companies, on a bus.
I'd like to see how many people ask their doctors for these pills when they're renewing their dexedrine and ritalin scrips for their kids. Other people's parents..... Cripes.

Yeah, I saw the ad that said "When Amy started thinking for herself, we had to nip it in the bud with Obay" - with a little bottle of pills and the bottom caption said "Brought to you by BecauseIsaidso.com
I'm hoping it's about parenting and it doesn't have any christian affiliation.
I'm completely offended by these ads either way. |

I saw them on the bus on the way back from the GO Train last night. I have looked around online and found nothing. Hopefully they put a website or something up sooner rather than later. I want to know what this is about because the ads are pointed social satire. I want to know what else the makers of WhyBecauseISaidSo have up their sleeves. |

Yeah, I saw the same ad on the NE corner of University & College today. Obviously it is some sort of hoax...don't know for who or for what yet...curious to see what the rest of the campaign is. Brought a smile to my face in -18 deg :) |

Ya, I saw it the morning on a YRT bus too, and I'm also wondering what the heck it is! I tried googling all different variations of it, but nothing came up.

I saw this ad this morning as well. But the ad at the bus stop near my house read:
"my son used to have his own aspirations, now he only has mine"
It made me laugh really hard.
It looks like a genuine pharmaceutical ad but they threw in some hints to suggest otherwise.
Down near the bottom of the ad was written
"brought to you from the makers of Becauseitoldyouso TM"
I think its a some the teaser to an upcoming youth/parenting campaign. It'll generate a lot of buzz. Can't wait to see whats hiding behind the first stage. |
