The Internet is a worldwide market place. The time you end a listing is irrelevant to most people. However if you believe that most of your buyers are in your own country then it could be wise to select a weekend as the time to end the listing.
It would be helpful if eBay provided statistical data about such things. It would help you to know what percentage of people who placed winning bids had placed these bids on day one, two, three or four etc, and how many people who placed winning bids did this during the last five minutes of the listing? Personally, I do not enter into bidding competition on the internet. If I want something, I determine how much I am prepared to pay, place my bid, and then forget about the rest until I am notified that I have either won the item,or that I have been unsuccessful. |

Depends on what you're selling.
Think about the types of people that want to buy what you are selling.
If, for example, it is computer games aimed at teens than what time are teens on the computer? After school? Weekends? Evening?
If it is for eg. Children's Clothing or Toys think about the Moms - avoid times they would be picking kids up from school or rushing around - avoid meal times. Maybe evening after the young children are in bed?
If it is for business people then after long business hours perhaps?
If it is for your own area or for other states/countries where the timezone might be different take than into account.
A "00" ending time - eg. 7.00 pm might be easier for people to remember when a listing ends. Don't make it just either side of midnight because people might get the day it is ending confused.
Also, avoid really popular TV or event timeslots (eg when a huge game is on TV or a very popular reality show or sitcom because a lot of people might not get up from the TV or forget because they are so involved in their favourite TV program).
Also, keep in mind that you would not end it if you are away for weekend because you can't answer questions of prospective buyers.
