for measurability and return on a small budget go with pay per click suing google adsense and yahoo search marketing. These systems allow you to manage your budget effectively and make sure you are getting a return. You can run your campaign on as many or as few keywords as you wish to make sure you are attracting the right type of customers.
This system works because it is 'pull' rather than 'push' marketing, this means that the person is actually saying, 'I am interested in this product' rather than the advertiser saying 'are you interested in this product' (e.g. billlboards, tv etc). you can make sure your ads appear only on keywords relating directly to your product so you know that person is interested before it costs you a penny.
are you UK based? if so the company I work for runs low cost ppc campaigns for SME's http://www.latitudewhite.com
alternatively you can set up your own accounts with google and yahoo and manage your own campaigns, paying through a credit card each month. the choice is yours but I would definitely suggest pay per click as your first point of call. |

Targeting is the key word,No neeed of getting hits that are not qualitative.what advertisers are intreted in is the profile of visitors it will help a lot if your site is dynamic(constantly updated) and contains a database so you can qualify the hits with more info about your visitors. |

If you use Google Adwords pay per click, be sure to read the Adwords help forums BEFORE you spend any money. Start in the "Basics" section. Read the newer post first, and then go back into the older post for a few months back.
Look for user complaints and frustrations. You will begin to see the same problems over and over again. You'll also see which problems seem to be resolved and which problems are ongoing.
Especially take notice of all of the complaints you'll see about the actual cost of Pay Per Click campaigns. It gets crazy! Some people are being charged 5 and 10 dollars per click, on accounts that started off costing only cents per click.
Google Adwords estimates it will take the average online business 100 clicks to convert one sale.
If you are looking for value advertising, you'll most likely be in for a rude awakening using Adwords.
