That depends on what sort of book you're running with.
How-tos are easy to get publicity for. Just become an entertaining information provider, pitch how your book will benefit the listeners/viewers... and never, never, never sell the book.
Anything else you can get PR for, but it may work better to write articles. |

The best way to do it is more of a public relations kind of thing.... get people to know who you are and why they would want to read your books. I don't know the nature of your books, so it's hard to tell you exactly what to do, but maybe you could do public readings at a local library. If it deals with a specific issue, find someone who is a prominent speaker on the issue, have them read the book, and if they like it, they can recommend it to other people. The best advertising you can have is word of mouth when it comes to books, because the book writing business isn't profitable enough to do mainstream advertising (and if your series of books is doing well enough to have that kind of profit, you probably don't have to advertise it.) Maybe a secondary suggestion is to find out who would be most interested in your book, find where they congregate most often, and ask that venue to allow you to come and speak to them. If you've ever noticed, a lot of successful authors are speakers too... the two functions help each other out. I hope this helps. |

Hello,
Wow! Sound like you're on the right track, that's for sure!
I'd suggest any or all of the following:
1. Put your book on Amazon.com
You can list your book on Amazon.com without any problems, and it should come up just like any other book!
2. Make SURE your website has a "list builder."
You need a way to collect visitor's email addresses so that you can send them newsletters or bi-weekly new offers. Give away the first few pages of the book or something to viewers.
3. Joint ventures are always good!
Study your competition and offer to email your list their product in exchange from them emailing your book to theirs. You may have to give them a bit of comission, but you'll make money without having to sell your book, and you make money off of their product as well!
4. Have a moderate AdWords account.
Start an AdWords account with a low budget - maybe $25 a week. That way, you can ensure TARGETED traffic to your website.
5. Start a blog at www.blogger.com
Start writing on the subject that your book is about. At the bottom of each blog, give a link to your website.
6. Write articles on the subject.
Start writing and submitting articles on the subject to article directories. Put a link to your website at the bottom.
