There are a few things you can do. One, put an ad in the newspaper about your restaurant and run a deal like, discounts for the first week. A great way to get it recognized is free coffee for the police and firefighters. Someone I know did that and got business because the firefighters and police officers got word around about how good the coffee was. Usually they will order something to eat also, so its always good to give police and firefighters discounts. Make sure they are ACTUAL police and firefighters before you give them a discount. You could also have someone go on a main road and hold a sign saying you just opened. There are a lot of things you can do for it. Get yourself in Yellowbook or another phonebook. Be sure to give out menus if you cater and its also a good idea to deliver food, although i would understand if you didnt because of rising gas prices. |

I have promoted restaurants and bars in the past.
Promotion means many things
and is dependant on the style, menu and market placement.
and who you percieve your patrons to be.
If you want press coverage
ensure all the food writers know.
You may also consider what local groups may get good press inclusion.
I did this with a group of young adults from a care home.
Invite them for a meal/training day for new staff.
Make sure the press know.
Are there local Guest Houses that can have a flier
I would post out menus to local offices and include some hand made sweets or nibbles. sure to get the office staff
talking.
Ensure you can handle advance orders
phone or fax.
are here any smaller shops/ boutiques etc around about.

can you open 30 minutes earlier/later.

How about making a large qty of sample foods and going out on the streets at lunchtime where office workers congregate (particularly Secretaries and Admin Assistants - they do the booking) and offer free lunch samplers.
Once a month do something silly like free ice-cream cones day or something to get people coming in and seeing the place and the menu - cost would be minimal compared to a print ad.
Otherwise you're into leafleting and local papers. |
