it depend what is the purpose for you to blog.
for free blogging and to get some earning, I prefer blog*spot
for free blogging with lot of traffic, I prefer word*press
to get lot of traffic and you want to earn money from your blog, I recommend that you use self hosted blog, with word*press blog platform. |

I think other users have listed other blogging sites. My favorite one is sweetcircles.com. Reason is
1. Easy to use
2. New features added regularly
3. More ready made templates. Templates are cool and they have many varieties added regularly
4. User can create their own template
5. Social networking feature is enabled. So blogger / users can network with other bloggers and users
6. Multi language
7. Private Blogging is available
8. Integrated with other sites like twitter, flickr.com etc |

But beauty is only skin deep. It's much more about "show me the money" than show me a pretty site.
But...
After a while Blog content becomes like a 3-day old newspaper. Good only for wrapping fish. How does Google know that? Because it knows that visitors don't visit the old posts.
