Marketing seems to take much more effort than selling...You gotta tell people about the product.
OH heck I dunno...they kinda both seem the same to me :-P |

Sales involves direct sales person to potential client interaction... prospecting, needs analysis, introduction of the product, negotiation, and hopefully sale.
Marketing is the indirect method of placing ads, radio spots, sending letters, etc... and hoping potentialclients notice it and come to you.
A success company needs to do both. |

here's the real answer
- Advertising (selling) is an announcement
- Marketing is a conversation |

selling is when people give you money for a product. Marketing is getting people to know about your product. |

Marketing is what you do to express a message. The goal of marketing doesn't have to equal sales. For example, when Milk did the "Got Milk?" campaign, the goal was to teach consumers that it wasn't going to make you fat and in turn, it would like increase sales.
Sales is just about achieving a sales goal by persuasion alone. Marketing is the approach. |

Selling is the actual act of transaction between the client or customer and the company or firm. Marketing is the act leading up to selling. When a new product range is out, it must be marketed to the intended segmet, brand awareness and all the rest of it, Marketing is a huge topic. Basically any crap product can be sold to the world with an effective marketing strategy. But there is a difference. |

Yes there is. Selling is more focused on how you would get to sell your product "now", while marketing stretches a bit farther than that. Marketing is more after the long term goals. It builds the product to be more competitive in the market in order to last longer than its competitors.

marketing is the process of advertising and circulation of the product that helps the sales of the product whereas selling the product is the actual profitting of the product.
i.e.
like at a store they advertise their products on tv, newspapers, screamers, etc and making sure the word gets around calling attention to the product and persueding people in to buying the product in clever ways so that even if the product they are selling is really crappy or really good people still want it(marketting), and then the people who are interested in the product will buy it from the store and the store gets its profit after paying the employees and companies and etc (selling) selling has more to do with the whole money part of the opperation
both selling and marketting go hand in hand. one can not go with out the other, your product wont sell if you have not advertised it in any way (even if putting the product on the shelf where everyone can see it with a price tag, still serves as marketting). and if you arent selling anything then you cant market anything because there is no object to sell.
hope i helped you! |
