OMG prolly the most important thing besides a quality products...it allows you to target exactly whom will use or buy the product. It will show you specificlly who and what they are all about, and then you can create spin off or other products based on the info gathered. It also allows you to max. your advertising so it hits the correct group. using demographics for example, makes sure you are not selling hearing aids to college kids ya know. Also it helps you determine what sex, age group, martial status, income level etc that will purchase your product. ALso there can be geographic specs, that will assist in pinpointing sales. It give you an excellent view on the how's and why's of consumer spending in relation to the product you are producing! |

surely it depends on what your product/service is, and the type of person you are aiming it at.
If you are selling dolls, then the demographics you are aiming for will be pre-teen girls, whereas if you are selling Porsches, you will be aiming for a young, middle aged, or possibly older, financially secure person.
If you are selling Porsches, your target person is unlikely to be a 17 year old unemployed girl living on a farm on a remote Scottish island. |

it's very important -- you need to know who your market is to be able to come up with good products, marketing campaigns and promotions that will fit your target market perfectly... everything that you do, basically, should cater to your market... and the only way to be able to do that right is to know the demographics of your audience. |

Plenty of good answers....do your homework you cant go wrong! You dont want to spend thousands on radio if your audience is watching T.V or online. You dont want to advertise on a website that has kids looking for game cheats for their videogames. Get it......Good luck! |

the place, sex, culture, time, age...Demographics are very important to market your product, coke marketed itself to the older generation while pepsi to the younger, there is a liberal view on gay marketing and this plays a very important role, Culture is the most important of marketing demographies, Reva was a car which had a very good status when it was marketed in Spain it flopped as reva meant "It won't go" , Vicks was a flop in Germany as Germans pronounced the word V as F and Ficks in german was a slang, Walmart without studyin the cultural changes flopped in Japan and in few other places, marketing is all about perceptions and place is atmost importance too, Generally Volkswagon was selling as many as 65000 cars in German and it went into the American markets and it was so that only Beetles were sold....and not the other Volkswagon cars..so ultimately demographies play a very important role |
