For a semester-long product, my team and I are considering creating a mirror that can also show information like the weather, the time, the headline news over it, to be used in the bathroom (either as a shower mirror or over a medicine cabinet). We have figured out the technology involved, our professors' only concern is with the marketability of this product. Do you think there are market segments that this product would appeal to? The underlying need is security - knowing the weather keeps you prepared and secure for outcomes of possible rain, chill, traffic stress, etc.
Mirror is an inevitable part of the grooming rituals for both females and males in almost any age group.
A mirror hanging in the hallway or the corridor leading to the outer door is much more compatible with info like weather, headlines, traffic details, etc. 'Should i take the umbrella or not. Hm. Let me check the mirror for the forecast!'
Mirrors in the places where you suggest could be useful carriers of information about proper dental brush technique, cream lotion applying techniques, and similar.

Absolutley. I think I even remember seeing this on a commercial. You could market it to wall street executives, business people, the luxury market, airports, anywhere that uses TVs and has travelers.
It would obviously fulfill the need of the world's constant desire for information... it's never ending, even while shaving in the bathroom. |

I think this is very marketable because if you tour any new homes that are moderate to high priced there is a computer docking station and or a tv in the bathroom!
Go to some web sites for bathroom design and look for yourself--I know while I am looking in the mirror I am thinking about how hot or cold it is and what should I wear, so if there was a weather report there it would help!

As long as you could sell this without requiring a monthly subscription in order to get the news and weather to work, I would buy it. It would save me alot of time in the morning. |

Not a bad idea, but you wouldn't want it to be overly intrusive.
If you could figure out how to get health care product companies to support it, I think that could possibly be a money maker. They could advertise their particular products and supply useful information such as weather and news. |
