Hi
First of all i should say Kukana 's answer was a good answer however i need to add these points:
1- First of all make sure you are using google keywords to find your phrases and the competition for that phrase. remember to focus on the keywords that been searched more often with less competition as you've got more chance to appear on top of google.
2- Rewrite your text based on your keywords. Make sure you are using your phrases in your text and also in title tage, description, keyword tag...
3- Highlight your phrases in your text or make them Bold or link them to another page as search engines would realize its an important keyword.
4- Start to Creating backlinks with your phrases(anchor text) also add your web site to different directories etc...
and ...
If you need any more help feel free to ring me on 07792982143 after 6pm...
Kind regards |

Have you got a site map? And is this sent to the SEs? You need lots of original content, always being updated or added to. What is the competition like? Have you got Statcounter to show where visitors are landing/linking? Ditch the ads, they cheapen & spoil the site. Ditch the counter (make it invisible, it's only for your benefit) How much do those ads earn you? Very little & they are not even relevant, and if they were they would be taking your traffic away. You have had 137 hits?? Bit early to think of getting up the rankings isn't it? What would someone be searching for if they wanted to get to a site like yours? Put yourself in their position, and be patient. If you get statcounter (free) you can join their forum which you`will find very usefulP.S. Great site!
As someone said validate your site, correct all those little spelling errors (no abreviations like approx!)
You need more content; map of area, what else is around, history, where to eat, pubs, tackle shops etc. etc. |

It can take several months before you can hope to be seen in search engines. So to start with, you just need patience.
However there are some things you can do to help. I had a quick look at your site, and saw some problems from the search engine perspective, that are easy to fix.
1) You have the same title tag for every page - that's the bit that appears on the tab when you view the page. When they're all the same, they look like duplicate content to the search engines. Each page title should have text that describes the actual page.
2) You don't seem to use any heading <h1> tags at all. Those define the title from the user point of view, and are one of the most important places the search engines look for keywords.
3) Check for w3c compliance at http://validator.w3.org/ for each page. I quickly looked at your home page with that, and it had 9 errors, including the lack of DOCTYPE statement. Making your site fully compliant means it can be viewed in as many browsers as possible, and is a good way to move higher in the search engine listings. |

if they have been submitted to search engine but not yet at the top of the results pages, then the key will be to generate traffic - if google/yahoo etc see lots of searching for & visiting to your site they'll know it's popular and include it higher up the results pages!

find other (relevant) websites who will link to it - and reciprocate by linking to theirs. That should help. |

Unfortunately there is no quick or easy way to get listed.
The most obvious thing I see that you can change is to put more emphasis on the location (city, town) Include this in the title, description, header, and multiple times in the content of every page in your website.
Change your writing style - Your content should be rich with keywords related to your site. The witty professional words are great for the reader, but the search engines look for keywords include these as many times as possible.
Ad alt tags to your images - Adding alt tags to your images is a good way to ad more keywords, and more description to sell your visitors
Example: Happy family on a weekend fishing trip.
You did excellent job for someone who I'm assuming has never done this before! You just need to learn seo

Some good answers; especially about content and figuring out how people that might be interested will search for the site. There are some free keyword research tools around that will help. Wordtracker is pretty good and you can buy day access. Will people be searching for "welsh fishing holiday", "accommodation in Llandeilo", "log cabins weekend wales"? Your Grandad will have a good idea of his target customers and you can check out how people search and choose what keywords to try and get high rankings for.
Few things you could do to get visibility while you're working on natural search engine optimisation;
1. Webmaster tools: Google, yahoo and MSN now offer webmaster tools which you can use to encourage your site to be indexed on a regular basis.
2. Local search: get listed in the local searches on the main search engines http://listings.local.yahoo.com/basic.php and https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount.
3. Look at running Google/Yahoo ads - you can run adverts to your budget and turn them on and off at will.
4. Links - very important. don't buy links and don't get involved in and link exchange programmes. Ask local sites to link to you and offer links from your site to local business and attractions - you could build this into new site content with pages on things to do in the area.
Good luck! Looks like a great place for a weekend. |

The best advice i could give you is to make use of this service
below, and you are guaranteed a 1st page position.
Many people don't click on to the 10 or 20th page, because then the results, don't often match their keywords, and the info are not relevant anymore.
So it's highly unlikely that someone will even notice your grandad's website.
Hope it helps. |
