Excellent customer service to your customers will usually be enough for them to refer you however sometimes you can offer a discount to the first five friends a customer refers to you. Try asking; that helps also. People are weary of giving out friends names but if you leave a magnetic business card for them that they can leave on their refrigerator that they can easily see then you will be referred when they know of a friend or family who needs your service. |

You may want to offer a discount on future jobs if your customer is willing to pass out a discount coupon to their friends, that they receive after the job is completed.
Therefore, they get rewarded for the next job and there are coupons being spread by your customers to attract new business.
Otherwise, I would be in the Yellow Pages with a nice sized ad.
I sold YP for 25 years and it was the number one place for referrals.
If you get a happy customer giving out your name, the new person will go in the phone book looking for your number and information.
You had better be there or your competition will get the business.
You can even run a coupon in your ad there as well.
It's still the first place people go when they have a plumbing problem.

Their first hand experience with you. With so many companies to choose from in an industry, people want to know they are getting the best. This means you aren't the lowest price necessarily, reasonable, but not the lowest in most cases. Never lower the price based on a reaction either. You can negotiate of course...but should always be a this for that. Once people have experience with you, they tell others. You are smart to do this....this is the number one source of business for my husband's painting business. |
