Sadly, the do-not-call lists do not work. If you use the internet, input your information, have a credit card, or anything like that, people will always be able to get your information. Sorry...

The best place to go is http://www.donotcall.gov - but it can take up to six weeks for your name/number to be distributed to all established telemarketers. This also will not and cannot stop anyone from picking up a telephone book and using that to make cold calls to your number - so it's not 100% effective. The best way to get people to stop cold calls to your number is to change your number to an unpublished one (that way it's not even available through directory assistance) and limit who gets that number.
