What should be the dress of a sales person?
My age is 46 and I am sales person

Navin Q
Hi Maddah,

Personally I believe that a sales person does not sell his product, but rather himself. Think about it, at a store, would you buy a chewing-gum from a bright, enthusiastic, well-dressed salesperson, or from a shabby, "does-not-care" type? So though your appearance would not guarantee the sale, it would definitely put you in a better light with your client.

Dressing depends on situations or setting. In India, where I operate, a white or light shirt, a pair of trousers, a smart conservative tie, well polished shoes with matching socks usually works well in many situations. A suit may be worn depending on the client, though if you have to travel a lot using public transport like me, I'd not recommend the elaborate suit unless absolutely necessary.

Also if its a corporate meeting, due to business being global, a global western dressing style is well accepted. My advice is to stick to the shirt, trousers, tie combination and use a suit when necessary to meet important clients.

Best of luck :)

The dress of a sales person should be as nice as the merchandise they are selling plus low-heeled, closed toe shoes. You're still in a business environment since you work there

Quite decently. Long trousers and shirt, coat and tie.

depends on what kind of a sales man you are. there is a wide range of clothing that is appropriate. if all else fails just ask your boss.

The dress should depend on what the person is selling and to whom. If the sales person is calling on hospitals, finance offices, etc. , a dress suit would be appropriate. If the sales person is calling on farmers, slacks and nice shirt could be appropriate. A sales person should make a good impression of themselves and nice attire would be appropriate.

Depends on your work setting and what you are selling.

If you sell men's suits then of course a nice suit is the order of the day. If you sell boats then the suit might be a bit much and something a bit more casual would be more in order.

you should dress equal to your best client. that will attract more just like that one.

depends on where you work, follow the dress code of your employer. Most important though is be very neat and well groomed, even down to your fingernails... people do notice that stuff Also smell really good (cologne or body spray) but make sure it's not too overpowering

filivanili
Match your audience. Jayne Doe and a couple of the others already made good points in this regard.
If a guy: When in doubt, think private school uniform: Navy blazer, white collared shirt, white undershirt, gray slacks, black shoes, black belt, black socks.
