We use math while driving (speed, distance), cooking, making purchases, regulating temerature in our home, putting gas in our cars, wow this list is endless.
Ever see a house that looked wrong? Most likely there was something mathematically out of balance with the placement of the windows & doors on the front of it.
Good luck with your project! |

daily life?
It's easy, "everything is math"
Anything consists of numbers are math. When you decide to boil two eggs instead of one for two people, math is applied. When you count the expiration date of your milk, math is used. When you read the calorie on the food description and calculate your dietary, math is needed. When you estimate the time to go to your school, you used math plus physics. Almost everything can be calculated, and every calculation is math itself. |

Probably the single most direct impact math has on your life is your everyday purchases. Starting from the very basic math of being able to make correct change on up to setting prices and estimating sales volume based on those prices made at the corporate level using complex statistical models. Almost every aspect of modern retail sales relies on math in some form. |

I'd say everyday driving. Reason is, you use a ton of math by calculating your speed due to road conditions and distance of how far you can see. I'm sure no one really does the math to figure out how fast they're suppose to go if there's an x-amount of liquid on the pavement which would decrease the traction of the tires by y-amount which would directly impact your stopping distance by z-amount which in turn you should consider while driving to choose your speed. No one will actually do the math because if they did, they'd be so worried about the math that they'd forget to pay attention to the road and we'd end up having more crashes. However, there's a lot of stuff in there that involves numbers and driving is a huge part of everyday life... |

Steve Bugge is right. Use these two examples: calculating the best deal on a grocery store purchase by figuring the price per oz of a product when the product weight is different one from another.
Also, I know that many people don't even know how to calculate a tip. Hint: to figure 15% quickly in your head, take the bill, say $32.50, and move the decimal place to the left to get $3.25. Then take half of that ($1.63) and add it back ($3.25 + $1.63 = $4.88) and there you go. If you're not cheap, figuring 20% is easier: step one, then double it. |
