What type of printing paper do I use to print out award certificates?

greeneyedevil
Actually, Office Depot carries "Certificate" paper with heavy-bond type matting, and pretty swirls around the outside edges (this is suitable even for an office-type certificate), and those things work really well with a basic ink-jet printer and MS-Word.

Rinagade
If I where you I would use 1'' beveled paper!

Crystal S
You can also print them on regular printer paper size 8.5 by 11 i believe. Alot of them come with a background designed on them already so it prints the background and the certificate onto the plain white paper. I use them for my kids and one of their preschool classes. His teacher loved them so much, I am know doing them for the clasees.

Email me if you have any other desktop publishing type questions. I am really good with that kind of thing. My email crystal.lucus@mchsi.com or on yahoo messenger as crystallucus1002.

Sincerely,
Crystal S.

be cheap use the back of a preprint paper

Linen paper has a great quality and adds a little class. Most of the office supply stores stock it.

OK, here's what you need to do. You need to determine if you want to make your own border, or if you want to use pre-printed paper. It can be glossy, or matte finish or just plain paper. You can obtain the pre-printed paper at most office supply stores, as mentioned, including http://www.continentalprintingsupplies.com.

If you choose to print your own border, you can ususally do that fairly easily, with any small picture or 'icon' with a cut and paste repetitive pattern. You can use white or colored or heavyweight paper the choice is really up to you and your preference, or use for the award.

Some awards are rolled and given in a scroll type of presentation. I would recommend a lighter weight paper.

If you are going to print a picture on the award, I would try to use a lightweight picture paper. Domtar has a great paper that can be used for flyers/awards. It is a glossy coated paper and this one specifically is used in laser printers. It is Domtar Microprint coated laser gloss 94 bright/ 80#. I believe the item number to be 11508. Again, this is if you want to design your own awards.

The easiest way, however is to get some preprinted paper and make your award to suit the paper.

Get in touch with the folks at Continental Printing Supplies if you need more info on getting the paper. They usually have good prices.

A light card stock would be nice. Also try parchment paper or paper that has a linen type finish.

Aria
Fibrous, classy paper. Not the old recycled plain copy paper. May print shops have an array of lovely paper in which to offer awards. It costs a bit more but the awardees wil be proud. One of my of fave's for classy paper is Michael's.

if you want it to shine get photo printin paper or the glossy

Stephiony
There are special papers at office supply stores for awards or on Yahoo shopping you could search for award certificate paper. If you are using a template or click art with the border or a design then I would think you would want to use a paper with a higher rag content than normal, or a heaver bond paper (at least 22 or 24 lb.). A heavy vellum might be nice.

The type of printer you are using will probably make a difference. Make sure your printer will accept the type of paper you want to use. A highly absorbent paper with a color ink jet may end up looking blurred.

And, alot of it will depend on what the award is for. Obviously, something really important would be on a very good quality paper while something people will just have for a while and then toss would be lower-grade.

I think you will need to experiment to come up with what looks best for you in your budget.

Geographics makes a pre printed border certificate paper. Twenty five sheets to a package and it comes with the seals (usually in gold) for the certificates. Borders come in blue or red. Available at Staples

Safety bond is nice. It has an imprint in the background like cash. But you can go to a stationer or office supply store and buy colored paper with premade borders like a certificate.

At one of those stores mentioned, you can get paper with borders for printing our awards and certificates. Or you can make your own borders on a computer.

There are many printing paper types available that are specifically designed for creating awards. Check out www.officedepot.com and look under specialty paper products.

If you go to any office supply store like Office Depo or Staples they'll tell you which one is the best!!!
