The one we teach is: "Laugh along with a bully and you become the bully too"
It's not nice to be bullied, is twice as bad, to be bullied and have a group of people laughing and encouraging the bully.
If you don't stop the bully, if you don't report the bullying, if you turn and face the other way when someone is being bullied, you might as well be the bully too.
Whilst anti-bullying week is a good idea, it should be a long-term commitment not just a week long thing, the school should always be focusing on new strategies for anti-bullying.
I hope you get the slogan you're looking for.
If your son needs anymore help, I'm a peer mentor that specialises in bullying, I'd be happy to answer any questions that he needs answering about what he can do to help.

Edit: I hope this is a well known fact, but anything that puts another person down, whether through physical violence, name calling, ignoring someone because of something they do/say in their everyday life, laughing because someone's different etc are ALL types of bullying.
Not every bully is unintelligent, in fact, most of the ones I deal with are very intelligent, but they have such low self-confidence, they need something to make them feel big, having other kids laugh when you pick on someone different, is one quick confidence boost for some people.
Half the problem with bullying, is so many people help the victim but forget about the bully. They're not bullying for no reason, they're doing it for attention, that's why you need to talk to both and help both otherwise we'll never win the war against bullies. |
