1. Write and submit articles . It is a classic, but it works. This will create traffic for years to come. Write quality unique articles, not articles that are regenerated or provide no insight to readers, which is a huge problem these days.
2. Submit ads to a high pagerank and high traffic Classified ad site such as USFreeads.
3. Make sure to view related products on Amazon.com. You can try and take some customers from your competitors here by providing your own url if the product is similar.
4. Review websites in your niche on Alexa to try to take some of their traffic by including a reference back to your site.
5. Review some related products on epinion.
6. If you purchase a product that you actually like, then feel free to give an individual respect when respect is due and leave a testimonial. You should be able to get some traffic from that website if your testimonial is left with a url.
7. Whenever you send an email to someone, include your website url as a signature.
8. Keep updating content on your websites/blogs… try at least once per week, if not twice.
9. Tag blog posts at social bookmarking sites. Sign up to Onlywire.
10. Add pictures to your blog with appropriate keywords.

There are a few things you can do:
Search Engine Optimization is one of them. you can optimize your website for the keywords or phrases focused on the products you sell or the niche you are in or the traffic you want to get. then, when searchers are searching for those words in a search engine, your site can be found relevant and then ranked higher. when this happens, more people will click on your site from the search engine.
Also, you can do Pay per click the right way. use phrase match or exact match for some of your more expensive but more conversion driving keywords. Also, don't direct them right to your website. they will get distracted and not convert. make a landing page with information about your product or service, and then capture their contact information from this landing page. it will give you better leads to hopefully turn into sales.

I hate this as everyone always suggests it but it apears no one does it . Artciles . Writes articles that pertain to your site. Submit them to article directories .
Another thing submit to directories . From the directories you may not get too much traffic but believe it or not some Search engines actually use directories as a filler . So it will help to give you quality backlinks.
Another free way is social bookmarking .Get roboform and fill in a profile and start making accounts with social bookmarking pages .Bookmark your website .
Web 2.0 create squidoo hubpages wordpress and bloggers pages about your website .
