I think Gregg is right. One way you can ofset your PPC costs is via different advertising programs of your own (depending on what kind of website you have)
The biggest advantage of PPC is that it allows you to focus your time on what you do best. Thats why outsourcing and automation is best. It allows you to focus on your best 80/20 relationship. |

Both methods are good if your seeing results.
If I had a small cash flow I'd start off with bum marketing the free method, articles, blogs, forums, hubpages, squidoo and video.
Then with my profit I'd work my way over to PPC, PPC if used correctly will bring you highly targeted visitors. |

There isn't really any definite answer other than it depends. If you know how to advertise via PPC (which keywords to use and how much to bid) you'll probably drive in more traffic to your website that way. PPC will definitely cost you some money, but in the long run pays itself off. Why is PPC good? Because people search for specific keywords / phrases, possible long tailed key phrases which would turn up the results they're most interested in (hopefully your website shows up for the terms they're searching if you bid on the correct keywords and phrases).
Getting traffic for free from sites such as YouTube, Forums, Yahoo Answers, and other websites is definitely a plus. You can also get traffic via SEO (Search Engine Optimization) which I'm no professional in. Definitely check out both ways of getting traffic to your site...test them out and see which you like best. |

I've been using free methods to push my products, search engine traffic, social networks etc, what I've found is that it does cost, it costs time.
I thinking about moving into PPC to promote the products I'm pushing, but first I'm going to read up on everything I can.
In the end I hope to have a nice medium between the two. |
