In which search engine? They use different criteria over at Google than they do at Yahoo, etc.
Beyond choosing the best phrases on your home page and in the keyword meta tags, it helps (in Google) if other sites that are related to court and the legal business have links to your site.
If you really want to drive traffic to your site, investigate the features of Google Ad Words, Yahoo Sponsored Search, and some of the other search engine's equivalent programs. |

In this case,"Court Reporters in California" is a keyword. You can include them in the title and meta tags of your website. Getting your name apperar as one of the first sites, you will need to know how competitive this keyword meaning how many of your competitors are using this keyword. This is quite a good keyword as there are around 1000 sites using this keyword from the search engine. Remember, ranking is a matter of supply and demand. Find a keyword which has less supply but highly demanded by the public and you will naturally ranked higher. |

You will need to change your meta tags and optimize your website. Please be aware that to be in the "natural" sections (ie not the sponsored links/ads on the search engines) it can take a lot of money to optimize your site and then even then you aren't guaranteed to be at the top. it is more of a long-term process.
For the better way to get to the top in a short amount of time, try PPC (Pay Per Click). If you're looking at Google, I recommend Ineedhits (http://www.ineedhits.com)which has helped me to improve my ads and have even gotten my click costs down over time. They also have a cheaper service which advertises you on other search engines too. How neat is that! |
