How about a situation when you are in neutral emotion, and the person seeking charity tells you a pathetic story which makes you sad? Would your behavior change and how? |

It would depend on what the sadness was about, if it was something that had happen and could be helped by donating to a charity I would be inclined to give more. If it was a self issue then
I would be more focused on self and probably wouldnt give much.
If I was in a neutral emotion and heard a story that made me sad..then yes my behavior would change and in feeling sympathy I would be incline to give more. |

Sadness is not the issue. The person seeking charity may or may not be deserving. The pathetic story may or may not be real.
To move most people to give charity, one must impart two separate concepts. The first is that they are prosperous enough to give. The second is that they will feel good if they do (or perhaps guilty if they do not). |

Human emotions in general motivate action. Anyone in high-ticket item sales can affirm that it's emotion, no logic, that closes the sale. Salespeople are taught to look for these emotional "hot buttons" and focus on them during the sales process.
To answer the first part of the question, it would depend why you are sad. If it were completely unrelated to the charity or the situation, you may react negatively and give less or nothing at all. If on the other hand, you were emotionally neutral and the story moved you to sadness, then you would be inclined to respond emotionally and perhaps give more than you normally would have. |

well i know it shudnt. it never happens to me. but i still show my charity because i dont want that persone to feel ambarace in front of people when telling his stupid stories. anyway i believe god is watching him he does with his charity. |

it really doesn't have a big difference to me. it depends on the charity. I'm gonna give more for a cause that moves me, vs. one that I could personally care less about. am I connected and do I have a few extra $$ in my pocket. |

Probably if I was sad about something that happened in a story someone told, yes, i would donate. If I was sad because I lost something of mine or for some other reason I wouldn't. Just make sure whatever you say is true. Show real evidince that whatever your charity is stopping or fixing is tragic-- the smile train (google it) does a very good job of making their point with information, pictures, stories and that helps them make a difference. |

Human emotions are not the same for everyone.
For some... hearing anothers sad story will only cause them more sadness & depression.
For others..someone elses situation can be sad enough that it makes you realize that you are luckier than you might have been feeling.
(This makes your situation seem not so bad to you in comparison).
Giving is good for the heart & the soul...it allows you to heal. |

I would give more to the charity then i usually would if i was in down mood. I think it would make me feel guilty if I didn't give an amount! Hope that helps you!! |
