i would consult the doctors offices and get some kind of endorsement from them....give them free samples to supply to their patients....a TRUE insominiac HAS discussed it with their doctor.....that is where i would start (as long as it is FDA approved)...if not here.....do an infomercial! |

First of all you need to check the legal status of advertising your product because there are certain restrictions. First step is to consult a lawyer.
Where to advertise? you are in the market for a big product, I am sure you have a decent budget. Hire a media planning & buying agency because it is easy for any person to just tell you go for newspapers, T.V etc. Reality is different, you need to do some marketing first to come up with a target group. Once that is cleared, the media agency will study the most effecient media to reach your target.
For example: If your target is females 30+, residing in urban areas with a monthly income of over $3000. Unless you have an unlimited budget, you need to know how to reach this target effecinetly because every dollar that goes to non-target is almost useless. Research provides these agencies with the tools to tell you where to advertise, what positions in the magazines, the frequency, what time of the year, for how long to advertise. There are simply too many variables here. It would be B.S for me to simply tell you go for certain titles or channels.

The best media that reaches the most people more often (per dollar spent) is radio....period! You just need to decide whether you want/need immediate short term results or you want to build longer term, more profitable business. Depending on you answer to that question...I might have another media I'd suggest....just let me know.
Don't make the mistake in thinking that you need to reach people that have insomnia. You are going to reach people...lots of people that likely know someone that suffers insomnia.
Start small if you need to. Select some cities to broadcast in, then move up to networks. I can sugest a few...
NOTE: All of this will be USELESS though if you don't have great copy....a great angle...and a great reason WHY people should use your product over any of the other trillion brands of similar brands out there.
