I have came across a really good site I bookmarked that walks you through setting up a website, and how to advertise with it, etc. It is broken into chapters that cover each step of the setup process, and was really helpful when I was setting up my first website. The tips in the guides also helped me figure out what I was doing with my new blog. It was really helpful since I had no clue what to expect.

The only places you can make websites for free (angelfire, aol hometown, ect.) usually have templates where putting a website together is as easy as a powerpoint. For a more professional site, youll need to decide on either adobe dreamweaver, or microsoft's web site builder, which or not free.
Advertising is a difficult issue, but is based soley on the amount of traffic your website generates. With a free site on a free network I dont think you will have to many options. The most strait foward advertising place would be google adsense. All you do is go sighn up with them, creat an account, and they give you a banner to post on your site. Everytime it is clicked, you get like 5 cents. Some people end up making thousands of dollars. |

Any website you make for free will not allow you to control the ads they provide because that is where they are making money.
Realistically if you want to make money with ads on your site you are going to need to buy a domain and pay for hosting services with someone. Most domains will help you create your own simple website. There are a lot of software packages out there that can help you create website without knowing any programming.

The free websites are not for making money, they are only really useful for posting pictures, information, maybe a resume. The free websites usually state in the agreement for non-commercial use as well, so if you did use a free one you would be violating their agreement. |
