Where to work??

I think I've asked something about this before on here...but I really need some help.

My better half was offered a position in Mt. Pleasant, TX & so he relocated and is now talking about purchasing a home for us. The problem is that I'm stuck-I've tried to find a job there & so far no luck. I haven't been able to make a trip yet so I'm not sure what's exactly in or around the area.

I'm a graphic designer...which there are probably not many opportunities for. Does anybody know of any places of business that are creative based in the area? Names of local owners that I could contact?

I've heard the area is pretty small...so they probably don't advertise positions online. (Maybe that's why I can't seem to find anything). Any ideas??

I just keep thinking this shouldn't be this hard... I'm a hard worker, dedicated, love to keep learning new skills, great w/ customer service, have a steady work history, & received my BFA in graphic design 2 years ago.

Try calling the local newspaper and ordering the current and last Sunday paper to be FedEx'd to you. My mom has done that every time we have moved.

Since you are a graphic designer don't just look at the wanted section, look at the ads. If anything that looks similar to the work you have done, and looks local (i.e. not Target, or Walmart). Contact that store and ask who does their ads.

If it is a local chain they may have an in house department you could try to get into, or they may outsource to a local print house. Either way you can get the ball rolling.

The other option is to work from home, remotely. If you have the software and a good computer, you can perform much of the same work you could in an office, and contribute to a design team anywhere in the states as a contractor. Try Monster or Career builder for those type of options.
