How to Select the Best Domain Name
If being in the foremost search engines (Yahoo!, MSN, etc. ) is tremendously essential to you, I extremely urge you index a name that includes your major keywords as an alternative of your enterprise name.
Imagine about it. The normal visitor searches by theme, not by correct name. So why it may seem cool to have a name corresponding JohnD. com, you'll wish to select a name that contains keywords that your intended spectators would likely use when they search.
So with that in thinking, a name like John-Doe.com would be much enhanced than JohnD.com. Sure, you can still list your corporation name on your web pages, but I think it's more important to make sure the domain name consist of your eminent "search friendly" keywords if you want to receive traffic from all over.

If the other one is taken, I don't know that it really matter which is best.
However, I must say, if your goal is having the site be visited more often, you can accomplish that using other Search Engine Marketing techniques that will help you generate more traffic. |

From a webmasters standpoint, I tend to shy away from the use of hyphens in my domain name. Reasons are that i personally dont like them =), and that I find Initials more unique and such. Of course there are some good points if you go use the hypens, like being able to let the visitor see your entire name without actually going into your site. (search engines).
To me, the benefits of using initials far outweight that of using hypens. It does not really that much - to each his own.

From a professional standpoint, I tend to look askance at (first name)_(last name) and prefer to see the (first initial) (last name) @_____________ combination.
Just seems to be more professional, although some work places require that the former be used.
Certain magazines and other institutions have formatting to contact their representatives. |

If it is important to have your name remembered by site visitors, go with the hyphen version. If it doesn't matter, then it doesn't matter. |
