Write whatever you are good in and i sure that you an earn good in either website or blog. However, you shall write unique quality artile (that's why i suggest you write on the niche you are good in), then you shall go for SEO and SMOto get traffic. After get some traffic, you need to study on your ads placement/format to increase your CTR |

Pick a subject you like, open a wordpress blog for free and test the waters. Use general tags on the blog, as general as you can and some exact tags. This will give you a feel and give you a chance to learn before investing money. you may not like it, you may not like the subject you choose. If you do not make the site specific to one subject, it is a lot harder to build a following.
All of the rest of the answers are full of affiliate links and are 1200% worthless to you. Do it free for a while and learn the ropes a while. |

You will save a lot of money with it too because they provide a ton of services with one fee. I know because I had gone through a website without them and had paid for the services separately. |

No one can give you a blog topic. To be good, it's got to be something you're passionate about. And if it's not good, you won't have steady readership.
If you're passionate about making money, blog about that. But hopefully you'll find something with a little more depth and weight. |
