I was helping someone shop for a new computer. We tried Best Buy, Circuit City, WalMart, KMart, and Target. Only WalMart had an "E MAchjine" with Windows Home Edition of XP. I hear nothing but "negatives" about Vista and I wouldn't buy a "Vista" computer until the bugs are out of it and out of IE7 too. But, why no Windows XP computers? This is an outrage if you asked me. Noone I know likes Vista, no store repair shops like it. So, how do stores think they are going to sell computers and make profit in 2008? If most people don't want a product, why are almost all retailers pushing this un-wanted product? I think this is a $multi-million marketing mistake, and retailers are going to eat the costs of poor computer sales. |

Cause Microsoft tells OEM installers what they can and can't offer as far as Microsoft systems go.
"Large PC manufacturers were slated to have to stop selling XP after January 31. However, they have successfully lobbied Microsoft to allow them to continue selling PCs with all flavors of Windows XP preloaded until June 30, a further five months. Microsoft also plans to keep XP on retail shelves longer and will allow computer makers in emerging markets to build machines with Windows XP Starter Edition until June 2010."

microsoft are not thinking straight. i have vista and i used to have xp. i liked xp better and microsoft are dummies to put vista on all computers instead of xp.
get a mac. NOT the macbook air, though. get a normal macbook or imac. |

Don't fall victim to all the 'kewl kids' who are bad mouthing Vista even though they haven't even used it.
I have been using it on a network along side of XP loaded computers and am feeling a desire to upgrade the XP boxes to Vista.
And believe it or not, I re-enabled User Account Control after having it briefly disabled. Go figure!
Words of advice: If you go with Vista, go with at least Vista Home Premium and a minimum of 1GB of RAM. |

Because Vista is what MS is selling now even though it's crap. MS decides which of their operating systems people are allowed to buy.
If Apple and Linux weren't such garbage we'd have better options but we don't so suck it up and keep using XP. |

If you have a copy of XP, you can load that onto your computer instead of Vista. The computer doesn't care which version of Windows you are running on it. |

I have Vista and its not bad i have an xp too and i use Vista more its better i dont know why theres alot of bad comments out their if you read the review on Vista by real pros not people ull see is a good computer even with programs that do not support Vista i have alot of them and they run perfectly like games and other stuff |
