I bought a package of Reeses Peanut Butter cups. Used to be, that had a statement that said, "Best if used before __" and had a date. Now ther is a code that say "S6ALVS " How are we supposed to knwo it it isnt any good anymore? This candy was terrible, because the peanut butter inside was not moist, but, dry like a powder. I think the candy has expired its freshness date. So why did they remove expiration dates?
Candy isn't the only thing. I notice now, many products, like breakfast cereals, also have a code instead of a date. |

This is done so you can't read the expiration date.
The grocers can read the codes, and it is up to them to pull the products. If they abuse the system, you suffer. |

I have not noticed what you are saying. I have noticed that more and more food have clear expiration dates. You should call and complain about your Reeses. They can explain their code and maybe you can get coupons for some fresh ones. |

I just checked about a dozen items in our cupboard, and they all have a code, but usually in front of the code there is a date for the expiration...081506 for example. You have to look very carefully at times to find it, but its there. |

one, do they really want you to know?
two, you could try the bottem an sides of package, sometimes there is a stam with MAR0604 on it for example, to stand for march 6, 2004
if the candy was that bad, you could try taking it back.
