We've had a furniture store in the town where I live go 'out of business' 5 or 6 times in the last few years!

Basically a going ouf of business sale is just out with the old and in with the new. THey just want to get rid of the old crap that's been sitting in there for years and get new crap that they can jack up the price. They use the money they get from the old crap and buy new crap. Then sell the new crap for twice the price. What a profiit! Furniture companies suck!!!!! |

The cost of manufacturing furniture is only a fraction of the price you spend on it. Every once in a while, a store will have a "going out of business sale", and "drop prices". People will think they're getting a great deal, but it's actually how these stores make their money. Even when they drop the prices, their profit margin is still pretty high. |

I think it's just a gimmick to get people to think they're really getting a good deal, when that may not be entirely true. there's this one furniture store in inglewood ca, where i grew up that i kid you not has been going out of business for over 20 years. since i could remeber there used to be these big signs on the window, "going out of business, everything must go", last time i drove by there, maybe like 2 or 3 weeks ago, the store is still standing, and still "going out of business" |
