It's the old double standard. Most people still think of men as the head of the household. It's an extremely outdated view but there are so many who still cling to it. I'd like to think it's because men are always watching the TV while women are out doing something more important. But as a woman, of course I'd like to think that, so I do. |

Women are in general more skeptical and practical when it comes to shopping, that is why |

I don't think it is true that most ads target men. Most ads in some categories, such as cars, target men because they are more influenced by the image aspects of a car, whereas women, when they are the decision maker tend to look for safety features, economy features, ease of use...all things that don't look as sexy on the TV screen. |

They target men with commercials about things that men are interested in like sports, hunting, camping etc. |

Because the stereotype is that men like cars, while women fret over the home. How many household cleaning products advertise towards men? I don't know about "most," I think it's about 45% men, 55% women. |

I see a lot of commerials for females. Car commericals are geared towards mostly men because men are more into cars than females are.Plus a lot of commercials have sexual overtones in them and of course that appeals to men. If there is one way to get a mans attention its definetly sex! Whether it be cars, alcohol, cologne, deodorant etc. |

Because men generally are the primary bread winners and decision makers.
Also men are more likely to overspend to have a flashy car to boost their image and try to impress people. |

I don't believe it's correct to generalize a commercial as targetting men. I agree that classic gender roles suggest that car commercials target men. The broader picture is: hey, you know what, we'll take whichever consumer is interested. Broadcasting through televised advertisment time slots is time given to the highest bidder, and then according to advertising research (this is targeting). Traditional family roles were the man works, comes home, and watches the boob tube. Obviously (to me), many/most families survive as a two job household. Good question. |

It's easier to target a man's subconscience mind. Women read into things a lot better than men. |

There is nothing sexist about it.
Men have more interest in cars then compared to women, so that’s why mostly men represent car commercials (even though, I don’t agree with that statement of yours).
Have you ever seen a man in lipstick or any other similar ads?
It just depends on what type of customers you want to attract. |

Because men are more likely to buy something impulsively. They want the easy way out of having to decide which brand to purchase. If it looks good on tv, then that is what they will get. When it comes to cars, men want what they think will impress others. Women, on the other hand, use commercials to see what is available, then they do the research and figure out what would best fit their needs, not their image. |

Most commercials target men because they are SEEMED to be the most dominate even though we are all equal. |

Men are attracted to automotve related items mostly due to the engineering and the power that the engine creates while it roars for more the adrenaline pumps right through the veins and basically we tend to do more dangerous things with automobiles like street race and or just plain race drink while driving. If you look at some studies more than likely you will see a male drinking and driving. On the other hand females aren't that big risk takes where as men are. Sorry for diagressing. Car commercials target men due to the fact of racing and fun. Myself I am a teen male and I am willing to admit that I love cars and I love how they run and how the engine roars and how a car's exterior styling appeals to me. |

Men ages 25 - 45 generally make the most money, spend the most money, and are likely to buy things if a sense of desire is envoked. |
