A brand name is a trust mark - you know what you're going to get, and you're willing to pay a premium for that. For example, I happen to love the taste of Coke. I know everytime that I get a coke that it's going to taste the same (i.e. when I buy it from a store...not necessarily a fountain drink from a restaurant).
Some brand names are badges - they signal to the user (or to others that observe the user) that they represent something (e.g. I'm cool, I'm in the know, I'm wealthy, I'm savvy, etc.) |

People love named brands for two reasons. One is that the quality is better and they were very happy with the purchase.
Two they really don't know any better and have been influenced by the company or another opinion leader's marketing. |

It's because we develop a phycological association with the product. We love brands because we get inspired by either the advertising of the brand, or the people (references) using those brands.
Coca Cola creates the world's best television ads which attracts the underlying needs of the people in such a way, that is extremely alluring - like a beautiful model is taking coca cola and also sprinkling it on her body! did you see that ad? These kinds of psychological associations creates inspirations which our minds take seriously (even we don't realize!) |

Branding of a product/service/Company is about creating a personality that the target consumer will relate to and form an emotional attachment over the long-term. Everything that Company puts into your zone of influence should relate immediately to the personality that Company wishes to create. For example Ben & Jerrys Ice cream is known for being laid back and groovy.
Or we just like cool deisgns and nice colours... :) |

Well, sometimes you do get what you pay for and it is worth spending a little more but other times it is just pure advertising that does it. We dont want to run around in a pair of Hi-Tec when everyone else has nikes because we think it wont make us cool! |
