silver star | Why does the phrase "FOR LIFE" is used repeatedly in advertising/promotions in so many TV ads that I see? |

Because it is a term that makes everyone think the product will last forever, therefore making it better than products that aren't "for life". This will then make people want to buy the product. |

Often it is done to make an overpriced product seem reasonable. People figure well if I never need to buy another one again, it makes sense to pay 3 or 4 times as much as the normal cost. |

Because it sounds good. Gives the clients reassurance that whatever it is that they're buiying, will be good until the day they die. It's a way to make you buy something that's more expensive - "invest a little more in our product, and you will have it for life. Not like the competator's cheap product that you will need to throw away in a month". |

Such as the product is guaranteed/warrantied for life?
They say it so customers will feel that they have no fear of this product being a piece of junk. That they can get their money back if it doesn't do what it is intended to do. |

It is a huge confidence builder. Who wouldn't buy a product or service that was guaranteed for as long as you own it, or as long as you live? As always though, read the fine print!!! |
