Why is it so hard to stay motivated when making telemarketing calls Business to Business?
I work for a steel manufacturing company. I know that my product is a need and would benefit many companies. We primarily supply the automotive and appliance industries I'm so sick of voice mail, I'm starting to sound like a pre-recorded message myself.
I recommend that you start today looking for a different job that pleases you. Never be satisfied with your job unless you can honestly get up in the morning and at least be able to smile. Life is too stinkin' short to waste 8-12 hours in a dungeon with people you can barely stand!

My heart goes to you. Telesales is one of the toughest trade, especially there are so many screening process to reach a decision maker of the target company.
I thought that everyone in the market is looking for steel, especially the China market??
How about:
Try another approach: like networking within your industry to meet and get to know some figure head 1st, then call them to pitch the sales.
Another of my suggestion will be: Ask your target what their current need or challenges is, and if you could work with them to resolve these matters.

persistence is key. first off it's a suck a*ss job but unless you have the will (and you get paid decent commissions) then you just have to keep plugging away. they KNOW it's telemarketing call regardless of whether or not you think they need your product. might wanna try in-house presentations instead. gets you out of the cubicle and get to meet people face to face where you can really make an impact. sales calls are a dead marketing tool. I'm amazed people still even do it what with caller ID and such. in-house presentations would technically make you an outside sales rep but it should be better pay and will probably yield you better results than the telemarketing thing will.

it is hard to stay motivated when you have to make telemarketing calls period. telemarketing is hard. even inbound. i tried both outbound and inbound. ... i don't know.. i would rather wash dishes all day long
i once worked for a liquidation company. was making lots of calls around the u.s.a. and canada. was getting some response, but was wasting most of my time on leaving messages to people that don't have what i wanted. then i figured out the way how to make those companies who are looking to sell what i was looking to buy contact me. i joined all kinds of online groups, message boards, and set up a small website on a free hosting. i don't work there anymore, but till this day the website is bringing all the potential contacts.
