Hi,
It sounds to me like your computer is infected with some form of malicious code, either a Trojan, Spyware, or Malware. You usually pick these up by browsing questionable websites(Pornography, Hacking, Warez), but you can also pick these up by no fault of your own just surfing the net. Look through your "Add/Remove Programs" list for software you don't recognize. If you do find a "spyaxe" or something else in there, most likely it won't let you uninstall it without a fight. If you don't find any programs you don't recognize, it's probably browser based. If the program you find does uninstall, still do steps 2-3.
To get rid of it:
Download 2 free programs, CCleaner (www.ccleaner.com), and AdAware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_aware_free.php)
If you found something in your programs list:
1. run Ccleaner and use the uninstall tool to remove the program.
2. Run the registry cleaner tool in Ccleaner.
3. Run ad-aware, scan your computer for spyware, delete it.
If you found nothing unknown in your programs list:
1. Install and run Ad-aware.
2. Start a full scan and remove anything detected
3. Run Ccleaner and use the registry cleaner. Fix all issues.
I am a computer technician and have used this combination of programs to remove many different kinds of Malicious code. It would be a good idea for you to run Ad-aware regularly after this so your PC stays spyware free.
Hope this helps! |
