Many of us tend to waste more money than our other counterparts.
In other words you will more likely see a black person with a tricked out car (rims, dvd player and so on) and dress in expensive clothes yet live in the ghetto. It's all about what you own than what you know. I find it funny in our schools I can see kids with over $1000 worth of stuff and are the dumbest kids in the school. Or a black perosn will put themselves into deep debt to keep up with the latest styles. |

Minorities haven't always been a preferred market. Advertisers aren't prejudice. They're motivated strictly by money. Business owners identify those who are most likely to buy their product, and they target them with their advertising. In the last 10 years or so, African American consumers have emerged as a major economic force in the discretionary income market, meaning they have begun buying a lot more luxury items and higher end consumables, making them a preferred consumer and warranting extra marketing dollars to market goods exclusively at them.
For the record, if you want to measure the power of a people, don't do it by how many politicians they have in office, that will come eventually anyways, measure it by how much attention they demand from advertisers. In a country made great by capitalism, that is the true measure of power. |

What do you mean "suddenly have money to spend"? As if to say that black people don't have money. There are millions of black people who have money. Most advertising companies are smart, and want to appeal to, and gain the trust and business of black people. This is such an ignorant and prejudice question. |
