If you see any movie or television, or magazine advertisement, they are using only womanfolks for the advertisemnt purpose including gents products(-Example shaving cream/shoes/dresses/motorcycles/etc.-)Is it because of that ladies like the products or buying the products or to attract the ladies. Is it not very cheap behaviour of the medias. Why should our ladies are permiting to happen like this . Please answer my question. |

First, there are certainly a lot of male models too.
Two trains of thought:
1. Who has the upper hand in household purchases - ladies first, then the children (could be the other way round in some items) and the gentleman comes in at the very end; so it is only ideal that the advertisement agencies target the female audience. A baby soap - they show less of the baby and more of the Mom since she is te decision maker (not the baby or the Dad).
2. Regarding the appearance of the female models in shaving creams etc, why does the Man shave, polish shoes etc - to make amark and more so with the female onlookers. Hence it is again only ideal that the Male buying populace are shown "why" they should buy a particular product. Of course too much will also backfire like the new AXE advt. This is true in the case of ladies' products too; for example perfumes, they should men who are enchanted by its fragrance.
To summarize, the advertisement is not targeted at who uses it - it is always targeted at those who are the decisive factors. |

Media people only buy the space and place the ad. Art directors and copywriters make the ads.
Guys like girls.
Girls like to look and see what cute girls are doing so they can model themselves to look cute.
It's what people want to see and that is why ad people put them in there.
Human nature to answer your question.

well the advertisements are not just commercialls....
being a MBA student,what i know is that the marketers do their homework all the time before making any kind of advertisements....they study the latest trends,what is hot at a particular point of time and what is not.....
based on the feedback they get from the current society they segment the advertisements...
so you can say since at this time SEX SELLS it is seed in all movies,advertisements,pop videos........everywhere......... |

sir, because sex sells. And secondaly the ladies who appear in those ads do it for money.. They are not forced to do it.Why should u call it the cheap behaviour of the media, where is media involved into this. Media only telecasts (TV ) or publishes ( Mags and Newspaper s) by their custotomers i.e. advertisors and advertising agencies.
re your querry that why should our ladies are permitting this to happen, i will repeat once again that they are doing this ads because they want to do it. Are they doing anything illegal. |

I dont think its bad to the the point where a person a person should be offended. I guest it depends on the individual. Certain advertisement needs certain appeal from the those who is expected to buy into it. It wont seem right to see a guy smiling on a Tampon commercial. So advertisers draw us off what they think would be appealing to us as consumers. And you know what they say." SEX SELLS". |
